How shop links work

Some shop buttons on this site are affiliate links. If you buy something after clicking one, the store or its affiliate network may pay us a small commission. The price you pay does not change. Each of those buttons says “Paid link” directly under it, and a page that has one says so above its first button.

The first button on a brand page always goes to the brand's own store. When a second button appears, it names the retailer it sends you to, such as Backcountry or Amazon.

Every shop button except Amazon's goes through a short redirect at beehivemade.com/go/ before it reaches the store. That redirect logs the brand, the page you clicked from, your country, and whether you were on a phone or a computer. It does not set cookies or record who you are. Amazon buttons go straight to Amazon, and the page sends the same log entry in the background when you click.

We don't link to firearms for sale. A firearm maker's page links to its website with no commission, or to its other products at a retailer. Plain links with no commission also go to alcohol makers and to brands sold only through dealers.

Commissions never decide which brands are listed or what we write about them, and they don't decide where a brand shows up. A brand with no affiliate program gets the same page and the same shop button, which sends you to its website.

Paid placements, when we have them, will be labeled as sponsored on the page where they appear.
