Is Goal Zero made in the USA, and where do its power stations come from

No. Goal Zero designs and tests its Yeti power stations and solar panels in Utah, and partners in China manufacture them. The company is run from Bluffdale and owned by BioLite.

Goal Zero1 started with a sourcing trip to China. Robert Workman was there buying for Provo Craft, the Spanish Fork craft company he had bought from his parents, when a neighbor at a hotel breakfast buffet introduced him to Phil Malua, who asked him to come help people in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The solar company that grew out of that trip still sends its manufacturing to China. Goal Zero's help center says its products are designed and tested at its Utah headquarters and "manufactured with our partners in China." So a Goal Zero Yeti is not made in the USA. The company behind it is run from Bluffdale, Utah.

No. Goal Zero says its products are designed and tested at its Utah headquarters and manufactured by partners in China.

Where is the Goal Zero Yeti made?

In China, under the same company answer. One accessory, the Yeti 25A Fast Charge power supply, was made in Taiwan, according to a 2020 recall notice.

Who owns Goal Zero?

BioLite, based in Brooklyn, New York, since April 2025. NRG Energy owned it before that, from 2014.

Where is Goal Zero headquartered?

In Bluffdale, Utah, at 675 West 14600 South. The company often describes the location as Salt Lake City.

Where are Goal Zero products made

In China, by the company's own account. The answer sits in Goal Zero's help center under the question "Where are your products made?" It says the products are designed and tested at the company's headquarters, which it describes as Salt Lake City, and built by manufacturing partners in China. The answer doesn't single out a product line, so it covers the Yeti power stations and the solar panels alike.

Federal recall notices back that up and add one wrinkle. In April 2021 the Consumer Product Safety Commission recalled about 7,850 EC8 cables that connect Yeti power stations to Yeti Tank batteries and vehicle batteries, and it listed China as the place of manufacture. A December 2020 recall of about 4,500 Yeti 25A Fast Charge power supplies, a charger sold separately for faster Yeti recharging, split the origin. The power supply was made in Taiwan and its plug in China. Both notices name Goal Zero LLC of Bluffdale as the importer.

So Goal Zero belongs on the founded in Utah and headquartered in Utah lists, and not on the made in Utah one.

Where is the Goal Zero Yeti made

The same place as everything else Goal Zero sells. The help center answer applies to the whole lineup, and Goal Zero has published no separate country for any Yeti model.

The line itself has a long history for a product category this young. Goal Zero launched as a business in June 2009, and the Escape 150 power station followed in July. The company calls it one of the first all in one battery and inverter products on the market. The Yeti 1250 came out in December 2012 and sold out within a day and a half, and a year later the older Escape and Extreme models were relaunched under the Yeti name. Lithium arrived in 2017. In January 2024 a compact Yeti line came out, starting with the Yeti 300 at $349, and in 2026 the company added a new Yeti 1000 and Yeti 1500 to finish what it calls its sixth generation lineup.

Where is Goal Zero headquartered

In Bluffdale, Utah. Goal Zero's privacy policy gives the address as 675 West 14600 South, Bluffdale. The company itself tends to say Salt Lake City, which is what its careers page lists, and it says its customer service team works onsite at headquarters with direct access to the engineers.

The founding story runs through the Congo. Workman started a nonprofit called Tifie in March 2007. In April 2008 the first GoBe solar kits went out to rural African communities, after their first test in the Congo. Goal Zero became a business the next year. Goal Zero engineers later helped design a new brick for Tifie's brick factory.

Who owns Goal Zero

BioLite, based in Brooklyn, New York, announced it had acquired Goal Zero on April 15, 2025. Jonathan Cedar, BioLite's founder and chief executive, leads the combined business. Both brands still sell under their own names, and the companies combined their core sales, operations, marketing and engineering teams. Cedar put the change this way: "To go from competitors to colleagues is an incredible transformation."

Before that, Goal Zero spent about a decade inside a power company. NRG Energy bought it in 2014, and a Utah Business12 release from January 2024 still described it as "an NRG company."

The Utah address survived both deals. In its FAQ about the BioLite purchase, Goal Zero says it is still headquartered in the Salt Lake City area, with a team that runs from engineering to customer service.

Is Goal Zero a Utah company

Yes. It started as a Utah business in 2009 and is run from Bluffdale, which puts it on our map of the Salt Lake Valley. Its owner is in New York and its manufacturing partners are in China. Other Utah brands built around a campsite, from canvas tents to sleeping pads, are in camp and overland.
