Moab Bag Co2 gets some of its raw material over a fence. Riders drop used inner tubes at a shop in Moab, and the owner told the Moab Times1 that people have tossed them over the fence at her house too. Each tube then goes through a washing machine twice, with Dawn, before anyone sews it. Moab Bag Co is one of five brands among the 16 pack and bag companies in our directory that sew their products in Utah, as of October 12, 2026. Most of the rest design bags here or run the company from here and have the sewing done somewhere else. This guide sorts them by what you want to carry and says which is which.

Quick answers

Which backpacks are made in Utah?

ULA Equipment3,4 packs are cut and sewn in Logan. Kinesis sews its camera bags in Mount Pleasant, and Nuke Sunrise21,22 and Moab Bag Co sew bike bags in Moab.

Is Gregory a Utah company?

It is run from Salt Lake City. Gregory7 was founded in San Diego in 1977, and Samsonite has owned it since 2014.

Is there a Utah diaper bag company?

Two of them. Ayla & Co started in Riverton in 2020, and Fawn Design26 started in Lehi. Fawn says its bags are produced in China.

Backpacking packs

ULA Equipment says every pack is cut and sewn in its Logan shop, which reached 9,000 square feet in 2021. It offers six hipbelt sizes, and the company says its fabric and fit options add up to hundreds of thousands of possible packs. The hard part is getting one. In 2024 the Ultra Dragonfly sold out within hours of each weekly drop, and ULA won't run a wait list.

Pa'lante Packs started in 2016 with about 100 simple packs sewn in a Utah basement, and it still designs and prototypes in Salt Lake City. Most packs now come from Vietnam, with some small batches sewn in Ogden. Its info page says the packs will not last your entire lifetime under heavy use and that it expects yours to last a full thru hike. Few gear companies put the limit in writing, and the two-year warranty on manufacturing defects matches it.

Gregory is run from Salt Lake City, where it makes its prototypes by hand. Wayne Gregory founded it in San Diego in 1977, and Samsonite has owned it since 2014. The reason to look is fit. Most Gregory packs come in separate men's and women's designs, and each size comes in two or three back lengths.

Camera and travel bags

WANDRD is run from Orem by the Cope family. Brothers Ryan and Spencer Cope started it in 2015 after a camera bag shopping trip turned up nothing they wanted to carry. Every bag has a warranty for as long as the original owner keeps it, and the company says a full zipper or strap failure counts.

Boundary Supply, run from Draper, came out of the University of Utah's Lassonde Studios and raised more than $1.1 million across three crowdfunding sites in 2017. Its bags are not made in Utah. Boundary says they are produced in six countries, and the current Errant MK II is built from U.S. made X-Pac VX21. US orders ship from a Utah warehouse, and bags with the newer logo carry a limited lifetime warranty.

Kinesis Photo Gear says every product it sells is designed and sewn in Utah, at its shop in Mount Pleasant. Its SafariSack, made since 1999, is a U-shaped bean bag for steadying a camera on a car window or a fence post. Travelers can buy it empty and fill it with rice or bird seed where they land.

Gravel, run from Provo, started with a toiletry bag built so your toothbrush stops rubbing against your toenail clippers. It does not name its factories. Every product carries a lifetime warranty, and the company says it tries to repair a broken item before replacing it.

Bike bags

Nuke Sunrise Bike Bags sews custom frame bags in Moab, each cut to fit one bike, for $125 to $135. Its founder, Dave Wilson, taught high school physics in El Paso before he moved the company to Moab. The warranty covers manufacturing defects for the life of the bag but not crashes, which on slickrock is a real exclusion.

Moab Bag Co bags are fairly water resistant and easy to clean, its owner told the Moab Times, but they are not fully waterproof. The line runs from a 4 by 3 inch mini bag to a crossbody, plus straps that hold tools to a frame. Tubes that arrive with a previous owner's patch make the bags that sell the quickest, according to the person who runs production.

Kinesis also makes cycling bags under its eoGEAR label. The Burrito handlebar bag is a little wider than a 2-liter soda bottle and closes with a #8 YKK zipper.

Diaper bags

Ayla & Co, started in Riverton in 2020, puts 16 numbered pockets in its diaper bag, so a parent holding a crying baby can tell a partner which pocket has the pacifier. The first product came bundled with a vacuum the size of a tumbler. The Ayla Mini is now the top seller.

Fawn Design began in Lehi with a diaper bag Jenny Wecker sewed for a friend who was expecting. The Original has 12 pockets and wears as a backpack or messenger style. The company says its bags are produced in China, and the founders sold the business in 2024.

Small carry sewn in Utah

Chums is the fifth sewing shop in the group. It makes eyeglass retainers and other small carry gear in Hurricane, where the factory has turned out more than 60 million units since 1983. The full list sits under packs and bags, and the brands that build here in every category are on the made in Utah list.
