Kickstarter turned down Owlet's first crowdfunding campaign in 2013 because it was a baby product, so the Lehi company took early preorders at $159 through a platform called Selfstarter instead. Owlet has since become a public company, the only one among the brands below. Several of the others are still run by the people who started them. As of October 12, 2026, two of the six brands in our kids and baby category make their products in Utah. Sprout Kids18 builds its furniture in Provo, and Baby Bling Bows23,25,26 has its headbands hand sewn by women in Utah. Two diaper bag makers from the packs category round out the list.

Quick answers

Is Owlet a Utah company?

It is run from Lehi, Utah. Kurt Workman started it in 2012 with five friends while he was a BYU4 student, and it trades on the New York Stock Exchange as OWLT.

Which baby and kids products are made in Utah?

Sprout Kids furniture is designed and built in Provo, and Baby Bling Bows headbands are hand sewn by women in Utah. The made in Utah list has the rest of the state's makers.

Where are Saranoni blankets made?

In China. Saranoni17 adds the embroidery at its showroom in Logan, Utah.

Sleep monitors

Owlet started in 2012, when Kurt Workman was a chemical engineering student at BYU and his friend Tanor Hodges worked with pulse oximeters at University of Utah Hospital. The two wanted to put one in a baby's sock. "I received more training to get my driver's license than I did to become a parent," Workman later wrote in Utah Business3,27. The first design failed, and the team went a year and a half without paychecks. The Smart Sock finally went on sale in October 2015.

In October 2021 an FDA warning letter said the Smart Sock's heart rate and oxygen notifications made it a medical device that needed clearance, and Owlet pulled it from US sale. The Dream Sock replaced it in January 2022, and a version with health notifications now carries FDA marketing authorization. Owlet is run from Lehi. Its filings say Benchmark builds its products in Thailand, and Aoni builds them in China and Vietnam.

Blankets and swaddles

Copper Pearl was named for its founders' hair. Kristen Reichert's was red and Stephanie Lee's was blond, and the two stay-at-home moms started the company in Sandy in the summer of 2015 with a bandana bib. The current owners, Tyler and Anne Hillstead, came in as customers after a Grace swaddle they bought kept drawing compliments from strangers in a grocery store line. Copper Pearl9,10,11 says it makes everything in its own factory, though it does not say where, and its offices are in Salt Lake City.

Little Unicorn recruited graphic design students from Utah State University to paint its first prints when Matthew Huff started the Logan company in 2014. The swaddles are 47 inches square, and the original quilt is four layers of muslin that goes in the washing machine. The prints are a Cache Valley product. As of 2018 the blankets shipped from four warehouses, none of them in Utah.

Saranoni started as a way to pay for a surgery. Emily and Nathan Peterson's daughter was born with microtia, and the first operation was expected to cost more than $100,000, so in 2006 they began selling newborn gift baskets at weekend craft markets. Customers kept noticing the blankets in the baskets, and the couple turned it into a blanket company. The blankets are made in China, and staff at the Logan showroom add the embroidery. The name joins the founders' great-grandmothers, Sarah and Noni.

Furniture and accessories made in Utah

Sprout Kids builds much of its furniture with no screws at all. The tabs and slots are cut with a calculated amount of interference, so the parts press together and stay there. Every piece is designed and built in one Provo workshop. The wood is Baltic birch, coated at a plant in the Northwestern United States before it reaches Provo. The Montessori floor bed sits low enough for a toddler to climb in alone, and Sprout rates it to 450 pounds for co-sleeping, a number that allows for the parent who lies down for one more story. Wood pieces carry a five-year warranty, and Sprout still sells replacement parts after it runs out.

Baby Bling Bows, run from Pleasant Grove, sold its first bows from a basket by a boutique's cash register, and they sold out every day. Its product pages say each headband is hand sewn and tied by women in the local community. The Classic Knot has no seams and measures 6 inches across before stretching. Not every material is local, and the tulle on the Tulle FAB comes from South Korea.

Diaper bags

Ayla & Co launched in Riverton in 2020, and in its first year it took a million-dollar loss on a stolen shipping container. Its diaper bag has 16 numbered pockets, so a parent can call out a pocket number instead of describing the inside of the bag. Fawn Design started in Lehi with a bag Jenny Wecker sewed as a gift for a friend, and the company says its bags are produced in China. Both are covered with the other bag makers in Utah made backpacks and bags.
