Copper Pearl is a kids and baby brand founded in Sandy, Utah, in 2015. It is headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The copper in Copper Pearl was Kristen Reichert's red hair, and the pearl was Stephanie Lee's blond. Both stay-at-home moms, they started the company in Sandy in the summer of 2015, and Lee gave ABC4 the reason plainly: "We needed something to do during nap time and bed time." The first product was a bandana bib. Within a year the friends were running Copper Pearl full time, with their husbands handling the business details.
The line grew into knit swaddles, and a swaddle is how the current owners arrived. Tyler Hillstead bought a Grace swaddle for his youngest daughter, Jane. Friends kept asking where it came from, and strangers in a grocery store line stopped to compliment it. Tyler and his wife, Anne, went on to own the company, and they grew manufacturing capacity to fix early out-of-stock problems.
Copper Pearl says it makes everything in its own factory, though it does not say where. Its offices are in Salt Lake City. The company says some of its earliest customers still use those first products, a long life for something started to fill nap time.
Copper Pearl's FAQ says every model in its photos is local to Utah, and it invites anyone in Utah who wants the job to apply by email.
