AceCamp is a camping and overland brand. Its North American headquarters is in Midvale, Utah.
For $4.99, AceCamp sells a stainless steel hair clip that also works as a screwdriver in three sizes, an 8mm wrench, a ruler and a box cutter. It weighs 2 grams. The clip is sold under Munkees, a gadget line AceCamp runs from its U.S. headquarters in Midvale.
AceCamp built its business in Asia first. The company says it was established in 2000. A 2012 SGB report named Ray Hou as founder and owner, with the company based in Shanghai. In December 2012 it opened a U.S. headquarters in Salt Lake City under Michael Beverly, whose resume ran through The North Face and Chums.
The company says the catalog now tops 200 camping and emergency products, from titanium cookware to trekking poles. Dinosaur bottle openers go for $3.99, and the buyer doesn't get to pick the color.
Midvale is the American office, not the head office. AceCamp still lists AceCamp China in Shanghai among its locations, and it keeps a German arm in Heusenstamm. The Utah address is on High Technology Drive, where the high technology includes a 2-gram hair clip with a wrench in it.
AceCamp's kids' mummy bag, rated to 30 degrees Fahrenheit, has glowing constellations, which the company says are tuned to be "bright enough to be fun but not so bright you can't go to sleep."
