BlenderBottle is a fitness brand founded in Orem, Utah, in 2000. It is headquartered in Lehi, Utah.
BlenderBottle began as one piece of wire from a hardware store. In 2000 Steve Sorensen formed it into the first BlenderBall whisk, and he and his wife, Kim, started the company in the den of their Orem home. For a while exactly one store carried the shakers, Good Earth Natural Foods in Orem.
The wire has since paid for a lot of square feet. In 2013 the company moved into a 100,000 square foot building in Lehi that was supposed to last five years. Kim Sorensen told the Daily Herald they outgrew it within a year and a half, and a second building opened in 2017.
The company, now called Trove Brands, first sold its FreeSip water bottle under the BlenderBottle name. Fortune reported that the launch largely failed because shoppers didn't realize the bottle wasn't meant for blending. Relaunched in March 2020 as Owala, the FreeSip made Time's list of the best inventions of 2023.
Trove is privately held, and the Sorensens' son Michael has been CEO since January 2024. In 2023 Trove said its brands sold in more than 100,000 stores across more than 100 countries. It started with one.
The newer BlenderBottle building in Lehi has a meditation and napping room named Kathmandu, which Kim Sorensen has called Catnapdu.
I did a report on BlenderBottle in college, and they're really good people. Simple design, and they just crush it.
