Logan, UtahSince 1914

Bluebird Candy Company is a food and drink brand founded in Logan, Utah, in 1914.

When the Utah Statesman visited Bluebird Candy in 2008, a new dipper needed close to six weeks before anything they dipped was good enough to sell. Every flavor gets its own mark on top so the counter can tell them apart. The Logan company still cooks its centers in the copper kettles it has used since the beginning, in what remains of the old Palace Hotel on Center Street.

Bluebird dates itself to 1914, when O. Guy Cardon and two partners opened the Bluebird Candy Shoppe at 12 West Center. The company bought its current factory building in 1967, and the candy company later split for good from the Bluebird restaurant, which is a separate business.

Justin Hamilton bought the candy company around 2016 and remodeled the factory store. George Daines, who bought the Bluebird restaurant in 2019, told Utah Public Radio in 2025 that he co-owns the candy company with Hamilton. The tray runs from the O'Aggie Bar to the Victoria, a rum-flavored center with a chopped pecan inside. Teresa Varner has dipped there for 30 years, and her mother put in 47, which makes six weeks of training look like an internship.

Fun fact

In 1914 O. Guy Cardon arranged for World Series scores to reach the new Bluebird shop in Logan, and baseball fans gathered there to get them.
