Blackstone is a kitchen and grill brand founded in Logan, Utah, in 2008. It is headquartered in Providence, Utah.
Blackstone exists because bacon smoke wore out its welcome. Roger Dahle told investors that cooking bacon in the house was "just too stinky," and that his wife didn't really like him doing it. He wanted to cook outside, and for a crowd. The griddle company he started in Logan in 2008 has kept the smoke on the patio ever since.
Dahle, a Utah State graduate, left ICON Health and Fitness after a decade with no set plan and one loose rule: "If it was in a box and I could put it on a shelf, I figured it was fair game for me." He drew the griddle on a yellow notepad with a pencil and a ruler, and a factory in China built it. Lawn and garden buyers said it looked like sporting goods. Sporting goods pointed him back to lawn and garden.
A 2022 SEC filing puts griddle production in China and Vietnam. Blackstone merged with Weber in May 2025, and Dahle became CEO of Weber Blackstone. He made keeping the headquarters in Utah part of the deal. The new one, 95,000 square feet in Providence, has test kitchens, so the bacon finally has a room of its own.
Five personalities who came to Blackstone through social media became full-time employees, including professionally trained chef Nathan Lippy.
A Blackstone is on my list. My brother has one and won't stop talking about it.
