Jordy Jewelry is an accessories brand founded in Utah in 2022. It is headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Jordy Jewelry's newest family member was adopted at a market in Ogden in the summer of 2023. He is a cat named Sue, after the Johnny Cash song, and he keeps the jeweler company in her Salt Lake City studio alongside an older cat, Cleo. The trade he joined is older than either of them, since the woman at the bench is a fifth-generation jeweler.
Her name is Yarden, though everyone calls her Jordy. Her family's jewelry making runs from Mosul, Iraq, to Israel, and she has said she learned everything she knows from her father, who learned it from his. She moved to Utah with her husband and Cleo in 2021, and the business followed.
The pieces are handmade in sterling silver, with a newer line in 14 karat solid gold, and they lean on stones like blue kyanite, labradorite, abalone shell and Peruvian opal. Prices run from small studs to gold earrings in the hundreds. She also takes custom orders for people who want to choose the stone and the metal themselves.
Most of the selling happens face to face. Her calendar fills with Utah markets, from the Utah Art Market at the Four Lemons to the Makers Hive Market at Station Park in Farmington, which is where a lot of people first meet the work.
She also teaches a beginner class in which each student makes a bezel cup ring and a pair of earrings to take home. Five generations in, the family trade now has a seat at the table for people who have never made a piece of jewelry.
Jordy Jewelry's 14 karat gold pearl and pink tourmaline earrings sell for $650, while its cornflake pearl earrings sell for $35.
