Lehi Mills is a food and drink brand founded in Lehi, Utah, in 1906.
The basement where Footloose holds its prom does not exist. Lehi Mills says people come by the mill in Lehi all the time asking about it, and leave disappointed. The rest is real. Kevin Bacon's character works at the mill, and Bacon worked there himself to learn the part. The mill was paid about $15,000 up front, the Deseret News reported, plus $1,000 for each day shooting halted the milling.
George G. Robinson bought the mill in 1910, four years after its first flour, and his family ran it for more than a century. The Turkey Red and Peacock logos painted on its silos in 1930 came off its cotton flour sacks, which customers turned into everything from pillowcases to underwear.
Then came years of money trouble, including the failure of the bank holding the mill's loan. Ken Brailsford bought it in 2013 on one condition: a Robinson would keep running it. Sherm Robinson helped run it until his death in 2021.
The mill still turns out about 100,000 pounds of flour a day, and most of its sales go to bakeries and restaurants. It got fresh paint for Footloose and a renovation in 2019. Neither one added the basement.
In 1952 Lehi Roller Mills supplied the flour that breaded the chicken at the first Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant, in Salt Lake City.
