Modern+Chic is a pack and bag brand founded in Utah in 2012. It is headquartered in South Jordan, Utah.
Customers of Modern+Chic get a vote. The South Jordan bag company runs a VIP Facebook group where shoppers trade notes on sales and cast votes on potential products, and it has its own app for collection launches. More than 500,000 customers have bought from it, the company says.
Christy Butler started the company in 2012, KUTV reported. On the brand's site she says the goal was products for women trying to juggle all the things. An ABC4 segment described the lineup as convertible bags and backpacks with adjustable and interchangeable straps.
The strap carries the whole idea. Bags like the Lennon and the Hazel have metal side loops, so the included strap turns a handbag into a crossbody. The company also sells printed and woven straps on their own. On the Remi, the strap adjusts from 42 inches to 48. The bestselling bags page has listed straps printed with dragons, which is not where most purse companies expect to end up.
KUTV reported that the brand ranked No. 130 on the Inc. 5000 list of fast-growing private companies. The same report put its showroom in Sandy, right off the 90th South exit. Its contact and return address is now on Shields Lane in South Jordan, and the company says orders ship from its Utah headquarters.
According to the company, its own team of women handles everything from design to packing. The address has changed since 2012. The idea of keeping one bag and changing the strap with the season has not.
Modern+Chic's Monarch bag strap adjusts from 32 to 58 inches end to end and is printed with black and gold butterflies.
