Solely Jane is a footwear brand headquartered in Draper, Utah. It was founded in 2020.
Solely Jane sells one base and a closet's worth of tops that slide onto it. Each top locks into a patented rail that the company says is rated for thousands of swaps, so a slide at lunch can become a high ankle strap by dinner without a second pair in the suitcase. The company started in 2020 and is run from Draper.
A review blog, Finders and Keep, says a group of women founded it. The first patent application on the interchangeable shoe was filed in March 2020 and granted in 2022, and the rail later earned a design patent of its own. The heel base stands on a 2.5 inch heel and a three quarter inch platform. Bases run $80 with a lifetime warranty, while tops run $40 with one year of coverage.
The catch is compatibility. Flat tops fit only flat bases, because the flats flex. Every base comes in whole sizes. The shoes are made in China and ship from Draper, and the company says it has sold more than 30,000 pairs. The tops are named for places a suitcase might go, among them Malibu, Monaco, Capri and Vienna. Nobody has named one Draper yet.
Solely Jane's flat sandal was designed by Doug Hintze of Hintze Creative and is built to withstand up to 300 miles, according to D5 magazine.
