Berry's Manufacturing is a hunting and archery brand headquartered in St. George, Utah. It was founded in 1961.
Finishing the Berry's Steel Open takes about 750 shots at 350 to 400 steel targets, on a range just outside St. George. Nearly 300 competitors signed up for the 2018 match, and about 85 percent lived outside Utah. Its organizer called it the largest steel-target-only match in the world and said he put it on with Berry's Manufacturing, the St. George bullet maker. Some companies sponsor a 5K.
Ray Berry started the company in 1961, casting bullets in what Berry's describes as a small family-run business in Fontana, California. After an industrial accident forced him to retire, his son Gilbert took over at 18 and ran it for more than 40 years. Gilbert moved the company into plated bullets. A swaged lead core goes into an electrically charged copper bath and comes out with 0.003 to 0.008 inches of copper, thicker on bullets meant to go faster.
Gilbert's son Tony took over in 2015, and the family still owns it. Berry's says it makes all of its products in Utah. Shooting Times reported a lifetime warranty on everything except the tumbler motors, which seems fair to anyone who has watched a reloader run one more batch of brass.
Berry's sells an $11 injection-molded nylon peg called the Gun Swing, which hangs a handgun by its barrel inside a safe and swivels 180 degrees.
