Where is Camp Chef made, and where is it run from

When federal regulators recalled about 20,600 Camp Chef2,3 camp stoves in December 2020, the notice listed the importer as Logan Outdoor Products LLC, doing business as Camp Chef, of Hyde Park, Utah. Under "Manufactured in," it said China. That is most of the answer. Camp Chef's own FAQ says its products are designed in the United States and made overseas. The company was founded in Logan in 1990 and is run from Hyde Park, so the head office is in Cache Valley while the stoves and grills come from overseas.

Quick answers

Are Camp Chef grills made in the USA?

No. Camp Chef says its products are designed in the United States and manufactured overseas, at facilities it operates or partners with.

Is Camp Chef made in China?

At least some of it. The stoves Camp Chef recalled in 2020 were made in China, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Where is Camp Chef headquartered?

In Hyde Park, Utah. The company was founded in Logan in 1990.

Who owns Camp Chef?

Funds managed by Strategic Value Partners, through Revelyst, since January 2025. Vista Outdoor owned it from 2016.

Where are Camp Chef products made

Overseas, by the company's own account. Camp Chef's FAQ answers the question directly: "All our products are designed in the USA to meet all U.S. safety standards." It goes on to say that for the last 10 years its products "have been manufactured overseas at facilities we operate or partner with." The FAQ doesn't name a country.

The recall fills in one. The Consumer Product Safety Commission notice covered three Camp Chef stove models, the Mountaineer among them, whose gas regulators could leak, and it gave China as the country of manufacture. The stoves had sold at sporting goods stores and Walmart from August 2019 through September 2020 for $150 to $300. Camp Chef had 26 reports of leaking regulators and no injuries, and owners got a free replacement regulator kit.

So a Camp Chef stove is not made in Utah. The brand belongs on the founded in Utah and headquartered in Utah lists, and the made in Utah list is the place to look if the factory matters to you.

Where are Camp Chef pellet grills made

Camp Chef doesn't publish a country for its pellet grills. The FAQ's answer covers all of its products, though, so the grills fall under "designed in the USA" and made overseas like everything else.

They may also be on their way out. In September 2026 the trade site CookOut News9,10,11 reported that Camp Chef was selling down its full-size grills and griddles, with only the Woodwind 24 left, sold through an outlet. The article read that as a sign the company is leaving grills to focus on camp stoves and camp griddles. Two months earlier the same site noted that the Woodwind and the Woodwind Pro, released in 2022, were the only pellet grills left on Camp Chef's website, and the Pro models were out of stock.

Where is Camp Chef headquartered

In Hyde Park, Utah. Camp Chef's contact page gives a Hyde Park mailing address and says its customer service agents work there.

The company started in Logan. Ty Measom founded it in 1990, on the idea, as its old about page put it, that "there just had to be a better way to cook outdoors." His first stove design became the Pro 60, and Camp Chef built a system of griddles and pizza ovens that sit on the same stove. Cast iron cookware came about a decade later, and patio gear for the backyard about ten years after that. By 2016 the website was also selling propane water heaters and outdoor movie screens.

That year American Hunter5 reported that Camp Chef had about 50 employees and more than 250 products, which works out to roughly five products per person.

Who owns Camp Chef

Funds managed by Strategic Value Partners, an investment firm, through a company called Revelyst. It took three deals to get there.

Vista Outdoor announced it was buying Camp Chef in September 2016 for $74 million, $60 million in cash at closing and $14 million paid over the next three years. Vista was based in Utah then, too. It had announced a new headquarters at Station Park in Farmington in 2015. It closed that office in November 2018, and its headquarters later moved to Anoka, Minnesota.

In November 2024 Vista split in two. It sold its shooting sports business, The Kinetic Group, to the Czechoslovak Group, and its outdoor brands became a separate public company, Revelyst. Strategic Value Partners completed its purchase of Revelyst in January 2025, in an all cash deal based on an enterprise value of $1.125 billion, and Revelyst's stock stopped trading on the New York Stock Exchange. CookOut News places Camp Chef in Revelyst's Outdoor Performance group.

Revelyst has been trimming since. In July 2026 it sold its electric bike brand, QuietKat. CookOut News has said it expects Camp Chef to be sold next.
