ArgentaWorks is a ski and snowboard brand founded in Park City, Utah, in 2023.
ArgentaWorks introduces its chief morale officer on its About page, and she is a dog. Glacier, a fluffy white dog, was the only companion who skied every month of a year with founder Garen Riedel before the Park City goggle company launched in November 2023. "She rips," Riedel told TownLift.
"Doesn't everybody in Utah ski 12 months a year?" he asked TownLift the week of the launch. His year included powder on Timpanogos on Halloween, with Riedel and the dog dressed as Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf. It also included a night sleeping under a rock at 12,700 feet on the Grand Teton, which he rated less fun.
Riedel raced alpine in high school in the Northeast and later raced triathlon professionally. Before goggles he designed World Cup and Olympic race suits for the US Ski and Snowboard Team, from 2018 to 2022. He had lived in Park City full time for nearly five years when the company went on sale.
The flagship is the Tuscarora, a goggle with a toric lens shaped to widen the view and sit snugly with a helmet. Each one comes with a sunny lens and a low-light lens held in place by magnets and a locking mechanism, and it ships in a hard case. Straps come off and swap in colors meant to match a ski kit, and neck gaiters come in matching colors.
The company says its clear lens was developed and tested by ski patrols for storms and night sweeps. It runs a pro program for patrollers and heli guides, and a Patrol version of the Tuscarora sells for $112 against $199 for the standard goggle. Riedel said he built them for people who ski more than 30 days a year, and that he wanted them used rather than left on a shelf. Glacier, by that standard, is the ideal customer.
Garen Riedel says he took Olympic champion Billy Demong up Mount Rainier for a 9,500-foot ski descent on the Fourth of July in 2020.
