Gabb is a consumer tech brand founded in Utah in 2018. It is headquartered in Lehi, Utah.
At Gabb, a song with clean lyrics can still be kept off the music service. Kerri Fox-Metoyer, head of entertainment at the Lehi company, told Billboard the filter also checks the album art. A song that fails is left out. The phones call and text but have no browser or social media apps.
In 2018 Steve Dalby, a father of eight, shopped for his son's first phone and found only expensive smartphones. Gabb's 2021 federal complaint says he didn't think parents should spend $700 to $1,200 on a breakable device. He incorporated Tyndale Technology that October, and in December a Provo consulting firm proposed the name Gabb.
Music streaming was the feature parents asked for most, so Gabb built its own service in 2022. Billboard started charting its 25 most-played songs monthly in November 2024.
The board removed Dalby as CEO after two years, and in August 2025 a Delaware chancellor ruled that his later removal from the board was invalid. Nate Randle, his successor as CEO, left that November.
Fox-Metoyer says some listeners are running their first streaming account, so Gabb teaches them what skip and shuffle mean. Somewhere a kid is learning that shuffle is optional.
For Gabb's 2024 Kid CEO for the Day, a 9-year-old from Naples, Florida, led the monthly companywide meeting and challenged staff to hold walking meetings.
