Team Event is a ski and snowboard brand founded in Park City, Utah, in 2021.
The Aerial belt from Team Event is a fanny pack that went to finishing school. Marion Zaniello, who designs the Park City ski line, told TownLift she upgraded the 1980s fanny pack into a peplum belt. The one she sells is cut from waterproof Schoeller shell and insulated with 80 grams of Primaloft Gold. Its pockets are sized for a trail map and slope snacks.
Zaniello learned to ski in the late 1970s and early 1980s, when hot doggers were turning into official freestyle athletes and ski ballet was a real event. Her story page says that by the early 1990s skiwear had turned "serious and dull," and that women were left with barely feminized versions of men's gear. It also notes that classic rock was already on the lift operators' radios back then, "where they've oddly remained to this day."
She designed women's clothing for 25 years before the switch, Mountain Park City reported. TownLift adds that the work was mostly in New York's Fashion District and later for Nordstrom's private label group in Seattle. Her family moved to Park City in 2018. "It was only after a couple of years living in a ski town that I had my 'when-in-Rome' awakening," she told TownLift, and Team Event followed in 2021.
The suit comes in three pieces that sell together or separately. The Freestyler jacket ends right at the waist of the Mogul Diva jumpsuit, so the pair reads as an '80s one-piece. She also wanted it warm for more than an hour. She told Park City Style that she enjoys a lodge break, "but mostly I want to spend my ski day out on the slopes."
The shell fabric comes from Switzerland and meets Bluesign criteria, the story page says. The jumpsuit and jacket product pages say they are made in Vancouver, British Columbia. The belt's page says it is made in New York City. The merino knitwear is made in small runs in China. Zaniello told Mountain Park City that the North American factories with the right machinery cost far more at small volume. "My ultimate retail ends up being vastly more expensive than competitors that are much more established," she said. The Mogul Diva lists at $950.
The knitwear is where the line relaxes. One merino mock neck is called Powder Panic, and its product page describes the syndrome as waking up ahead of the alarm on a powder day because you are anxious about missing first tracks. Its target customer is anyone reading this in November.
Zaniello told TownLift she wants the ski shells made entirely in the United States one day, because she likes checking on production herself. For now the suits come from Vancouver, and the design work stays in Park City, the town where a couple of winters turned a secret fantasy into a ski line.
