Uncharted Supply Co. is a camping and overland brand headquartered in Park City, Utah. It was founded in 2016.
Uncharted Supply Co. started with three inches of snow on Southern California's hilly roads. Traffic stopped, and Christian Schauf's drive to Colorado ran eight hours late. To Schauf, who grew up on a Wisconsin dairy farm, it was a regular winter day. He started asking, in his words, "Why are people not prepared?" The company has been run from Park City since 2017.
He cites a statistic that 95 percent of survival situations are resolved within 72 hours, so his first product, the Seventy2 Survival System, covers exactly that stretch. The first order carried a 1,000-unit minimum, and Schauf sold his townhome to cover it. When the boxes arrived, he stacked them 12 high in his apartment and then bought a storage shed. The company dates its founding to November 2016. He puts the standard plainly: "If I tell you it's going to save your life, better save your life."
On Shark Tank he drew an offer from Robert Herjavec. The company lists "placements in the Museum of Modern Art" among its credits. In 2018 the gear was also sold at the Silver Star Café, so you could order lunch and three days of survival in one stop.
Before Uncharted, its founder's band made 39 trips to the Middle East for Armed Forces Entertainment, with a PA system built to fit in a Black Hawk helicopter.
