Nineteen brands on this list, founded from 1878 to 2014. The Salt Lake Valley has the most of them, with 8.
Starting a company in Utah and keeping it are two separate feats. Every brand on this list was started here and later sold, whole or as a majority stake, to a larger company or an investment firm, going by the Owned by answer on its brand page.
Some sales kept the work at home. PV3, a Utah private investment firm, bought ENVE Composites from Amer Sports in April 2024, and ENVE still molds its carbon rims in Ogden. Others moved the address. VF Corporation has owned Altra Running since 2018 and runs it from Denver, a long way from the Orem running store where the first zero drop shoes were cut down and glued back together level.
A few sales are old enough to be history of their own. John Moses Browning and his brother Matthew formed Browning in Ogden in 1878, and FN Herstal has owned it since 1977. Constellation Brands bought High West in 2016, ten years after the Park City distillery opened. Each brand page names the current owner with its source, and this list is built from those answers, so a new sale shows up here when the answer changes.

Beehive Made lists 19 brands here. They include Altra Running, Augason Farms, Badlands and Blendtec. Each brand page says how the company belongs to Utah.
The oldest is Browning, founded in 1878. The newest is Cobalt Kinetics, founded in 2014.
The Salt Lake Valley has the most, with 8, followed by Utah County with 3. The other 8 are spread across 6 other towns.
A brand is on this list when it was started in Utah and the Owned by answer on its brand page, which cites a source, says a company or an investment firm bought it or holds a majority stake. The list is worked out again every time the site is built.
