Brands you may not know are from Utah

Forty brands on this list, founded from 1907 to 2020. The Salt Lake Valley has the most of them, with 17.

People type questions like "is Traeger made in Utah" into search engines often enough that the engines finish the sentence for them. This list comes from that habit. It holds the brands in Beehive Made's study of search autocomplete, a set picked because people already know the names, which makes it a list of companies you have heard of without knowing the address.

Some of them surprise on the Utah side. Joe Traeger built the first pellet grill in Oregon, and the company is run from Salt Lake City now, though its annual report says about 80 percent of its grills are made by outside manufacturers in China. Cricut started in Provo in 1969 as Provo Craft & Novelty. Shawn Nelson was 18 when he made the first Lovesac in 1995, and he turned it into a Salt Lake City company in 1998. Lovesac is based in Stamford, Connecticut, today, so it is listed for where it started.

Skullcandy started in Park City in 2003 and is still run from there. Black Rifle Coffee is run from West Valley City and roasts much of its bagged coffee in Manchester, Tennessee. Each brand page answers where the company started and where it is run. It also says where the products are made, which is often somewhere else.
